We have a permanent logo for NBO as organization, but every year we invite our participants (teachers and students) to propose a logo; and the winner of the contest represents the annual edition of the OAB.

Through our website or Ministry website. On the other hand, on April we send all the information to the agenda (secondary schools from different provinces of Argentina). We have a database with postal addresses of around 2.000 secondary schools.

OAB is divided in two levels:

Level 1: for students of the three early years of high school;

Level 2: for students of the three last years of secondary school.

Both levels has three rounds of exams:

a) School competition

b) Regional (or inter-school competition)

c) National competition.

At the first competition the students perform the exams individually. With those results, the teacher selects a team of three students for the regional and national competitions. That means that each school can be represented by two teams, one of each level. Each team goes through the whole exam with only one result.

Level 1: School and regional competition: theoretical test with multiple choices.

National competition: theoretical test with multiple choices and short answer questions and a practical test.

Level 2: School and regional competition: theoretical test with multiple choices and short answer questions. Since 2008 a demonstration of a practical exercise has been added, with questions to be answered.

National competition: theoretical test with multiple choices and short answer questions and a practical test.

Students work with their secondary school teacher (named school´s coordinator) during the preparation in order to participate in the NBO. They work as a team.

Books (Biology of Curtis, Biology of Salomon et al, Zoology of Hickman, Biology of Campbell) and exercise books organized for the NBO secretary.

Medals (gold, silver and bronze) for the first, second and third position respectively, for the next seven teams in the ranking we have medals as special mention for their performanc.

All the country

The National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC) supports the OAB offering its services.

Every year the Ministry of Education signs an agreement with UNRC financially supporting the Program.

All the students must be regular students of a secondary school. Students of the three early years are included in the first level, and students of the three last years of the secondary school system are included in the second level. Only students of the second level can be invited to participate in the IBO selection. Each school can be represented by two teams, one of each level. All the secondary schools of Argentina can participate in the NBO.

Selection procedure for IBO competition

After the national competition the Organizer Committee invite the 25 students of the second level, to participate in the selection procedure for the IBO competition. There are several eliminating selections, with theoretical and practical tests.
