Bio video competition (archive)
Students, are you in love with biology? Or with your pets? Do you talk daily to your house-plants? Do you sleep with your biology textbooks? Do you want to share your idea that biology is cool with the whole world? Try it out! Participate in the bio video competition and maybe you and your team will be rewarded at the opening ceremony of the IBO 2010 on July 11th in Korea. The only thing you have to do is to produce a small video on the internet (YouTube) about your national team preparations for the IBO. You will find further details below.

You and your team can start after the first selection of your National Olympiad.
1. Motto for the video
We love biology
The video should focus on your commitment and interest in biology and in an innovative and creative way illustrate the main reasons why you participate in the National Biology Olympiad.
Possibly you can:
- show how parts of the National Biology Olympiad are carried out in your country;
- show how your national team prepare for the International Biology Olympiad.
2. Duration of the video
max. 4 min.
3. Language: English
(or with English subtitles)
4. Deadline
July 6th 2010. The video has to be on YouTube at least one week before the opening of the IBO 2010, and the URL of your film has to be sent to this e-mail address: vandendries.hugo@skynet.be. We’ll put your video also on the IBO website (http://www.ibo-info.org).
5. Prize
The winning team will be rewarded a prize of € 250, donated by the Coordination Centre of the IBO. The winning team will be called on stage during the closing ceremony, and the film will be presented. If the winners of the competition are not the laureates of their country, the prize will be given to the delegation of their country. The delegation leaders have to decide how to distribute the prize.
6. Adjudication
An international jury (5 IBO countries + delegation of chairmen) will evaluate the films according to the aims of the competition (cfr. 1). The decision of the jury is irrevocable.
7. Copyright
The participants of the video competition transfer the copyright of their film to IBO, allowing the film to be used for promotional purposes for National and International Biology Olympiads.
To make sure your video does not infringe someone else's copyrights see: http://www.youtube.com/t/howto_copyright
